Abstract

Gender relations in marriage and family refer to the relationship between husband and wife in relation to their division of roles. In gender relations, there are aspects of gender roles that depend on the different expectations of individuals, groups and society based on gender, as well as values and beliefs related to gender. This research aims to dig deeper into gender relations in family institutions that tend to be dichotomized, which causes inequality between men and women. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The result of this research is that the construction of gender relations patterns in marriage and family can be realized in several forms, including: Equal and equitable cooperation between husband and wife, as well as children, both men and women. The division of work and roles both public, domestic, and social in society is carried out fairly and equally, the formation of partnerships in the division of roles between husband and wife. They work together in carrying out family functions and contribute in all aspects, from providing ideas, attention, moral and material assistance and an understanding of gender partnership, which recognizes the differences in roles, functions, responsibilities, needs and social status between men and women.
