Abstract

This research discusses the implementation and impact of digital politics in enhancing political literacy among young people in Bandar Lampung during the 2024 elections. Political parties can leverage digitalization to educate young people about politics, such as by using social media platforms. Considering that young people should also be aware of the importance of understanding politics, a mini research study found that students have a low level of political literacy. This is evidenced by the fact that many still use social media not for political purposes. This research aims to determine (1) the implementation of digital politics and (2) the impact of digital politics on political literacy, particularly among young people in Bandar Lampung City. Qualitative descriptive data analysis with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation. The data sources in this research are party cadres from Gelora, PSI cadres, and students. The research results show that digital politics in enhancing political literacy among young people in Bandar Lampung is based on indicators such as political knowledge and awareness of the 2024 elections, which have significantly increased thanks to advancements in digitalization. Young people often receive misinformation, one of the sources being social media. Next is political participation; political parties like PSI and Gelora have already utilized social media to gain support and enhance political participation through platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, websites, and Facebook. Young people have also participated in the elections by becoming members of the KPPS (Election Organizing Committee). The latest indicator is that the political interest of young people has been demonstrated on social media by criticizing and forming opinions, thus contributing positively to the nation's development.
