Abstract
Memorizing the Qur'an requires an intensive process of repeating the recitation so that the recitation can be memorized without looking at the Mushaf. One of the main challenges in this process is maintaining consistent motivation. This study aims to explore the relationship between muhasabah (self-introspection) and motivation to memorize the Qur'an among santri. The study involved 60 santri memorizing the Qur'an using quantitative methods and a field research approach. A purposive sampling technique was used for sample selection, and data were collected through two scales: the muhasabah scale (16 items, α = 0.827) and the Qur'an memorization motivation scale (17 items, α = 0.856). Data were analyzed using product moment correlation technique with the help of SPSS 20.0 software. The results of the analysis showed a significant positive relationship between muhasabah and motivation to memorize the Qur'an (r = 0.404, p = 0.001; p < 0.005). This finding indicates that an increase in muhasabah is associated with an increase in motivation to memorize the Qur'an, conversely, a decrease in muhasabah is associated with a decrease in motivation. This study suggests the integration of muhasabah practice in the learning process to increase memorization motivation.
