Abstract

Efforts to reformulate Muslim family law must be carried out as a form of adaptation to changes and developments over time.This article aims to discuss efforts to reformulate Muslim family law and its codification. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, namely research that describes understanding the importance of reformulation in Muslim family law from a maqasid al-syariah perspective. Codification of Muslim family law can be carried out by paying attention to the characteristics and philosophy of life that develop in a region. On the other hand, the state must also take concrete steps in creating Muslim family laws that are friendly and guaranteed within the ideology of a state, both in Muslim countries and other countries with Muslim populations. The development of technology in the world's countries results in the development of social society, associated with the availability of norms that regulate life, then the law in any field, will not be able to meet all the legal needs of society. legal reform is needed through legal reform including Islamic family law reform, or interpretation in order to provide benefits or for the sake of the social welfare of society.
